How the VA Process Works

The first step is to ask your primary VA provider for a referral to a mobility specialist.

A VA clinician will then document your service-connected mobility limitation and submit the documentation on your behalf. If eligible, it's time to choose your mobility scooter.

You can also call VBA at 800-827-1000 to request an evaluation.

*VA Clinicians: see below for documentation and relevant VA codes.

After the provider submits the necessary documentation and recommendations to the VA prosthetic department and you've been approved, it's time to choose your scooter with the VA Prosthetics & Sensory Aids Service (PSAS) team.

This is where you can choose one of the iconic Luggie models or the rugged all-terrain FR mobility scooters, depending on your lifestyle and needs.

TIP: Tell them which Luggie model suits your needs (see below). It matters.

We mean it. We support you, and the VA staff and departments to make the process smoother.

This means we bring it to you and show you how to use it safely. Future repairs and maintenance? That's covered too.

VA-Approved Products

It's not just the Luggie that is VA-Approved. FreeRiderUSA also offers VA-Compliant all-terrain scooters like the rugged FR1 City, powered wheelchairs, batteries, and accessories to customize your ride.
